Position Summary Department: DPH Surgery Status: Full-Time Title: Periopertive Support Associate Schedule Options: Three 12-hour shifts; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 7am - 7:30pm OR 8am - 8:30pm Three/Two 12-hour shifts; Saturday and Sunday (with the option to add Monday) from 7am - 7:30pm Orlando Health Dr. P. Position Summary This team member will be cross trained to support anesthesia and the operating room/OR Demonstrates through clinical practice a clear understanding of aseptic techniques and has a working knowledge of the specialized equipment and supplies utilized by the Anesthesiologist/Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA) Participates as a member of the perioperative nursing team. The primary focus of this position is patient, specimen and equipment transport, O.R. sanitation and assistance with maintenance of unit supply levels. ABOUT DPH SURGERY SERVICES The surgery department is located on the second floor of tower A and provides comprehensive care on a 24-hour, 7-day week basis. Dr. P. Phillips surgery provides intraoperative services for patients requiring Orthopedic, Neurological, General, Burn, Cardiovascular, Endo, Gastroenterology, Vascular, Gynecological, Urology, ENT, Hematology, Nephrology, Ophthalmology, Plastics, Thoracic, and robotic services with our 10 OR suites Responsibilities Essential Functions Specific duties include cleaning stretchers, O.R. tables, equipment and rooms. May assist the registered nurse and anesthetist in transporting postoperative patients to the recovery unit. Conveys and receives information in a timely manner. Performs operating room sanitation tasks. Stocks operating room with supplies. Checks, counts and stocks supplies (warmers, cabinets, bovies, substerile/supply rooms, linen and bags). Transports patient specimens, cultures, blood and body fluids to pathology, radiology and the laboratory. Provides assistance with moving and lifting patients, supplies and equipment. Reports defective material or equipment to supervisor. Under the direct supervision of the Registered nurse and/or anesthesia provider, may assist with positioning of patients for procedures and performs sterile gloving without contamination and holds extremities during patient preparation. Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility. May have limited access to areas storing medications. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Qualifications Education/Training • High School graduate or equivalent. Licensure/Certification • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. Experience • 1+ year of Periop, OR, or Anesthesia Tech experience highly preferred
