Position Overview:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) will assess, plan, and implement individualized therapy programs to restore patient function and promote independence. This role involves providing evidence-based treatments in outpatient rehabilitation settings, ensuring patient safety, and reducing health care errors. The OT collaborates closely with physicians, patients, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize recovery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients across all age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric populations.
- Develop and execute tailored treatment plans aligned with physician prescriptions, focusing on improving motor skills, functional abilities, and quality of life.
- Utilize clinical techniques such as manual therapy, neuro-rehabilitation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activity training to address conditions like degenerative diseases, neurologic impairments, orthopedic injuries, and post-operative recoveries.
- Monitor and document treatment effects, recommending adjustments in collaboration with physicians.
- Educate patients and families on management strategies, including psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual considerations, to facilitate active participation in rehabilitation.
- Assess and manage patient pain levels, coordinating interventions with healthcare providers as needed.
- Ensure safe operation and maintenance of all therapy equipment, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and administrative teams to coordinate care and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
- Supervise and collaborate with Occupational Therapy Assistants, Rehabilitation Aides, students, and other departmental staff.
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and departmental records, aligned with current standards.
- Contribute to departmental orientation, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Certifications:
- Valid state licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist in New Hampshire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA).
- Proficiency with outpatient rehabilitation techniques and evidence-based practices for common ambulatory pathologies.
- Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and respect for patient dignity and diversity.
