Position Overview
We are looking for a Permit Coordinator to join the Building Inspection Department. The Permit Coordinator has a key role that involves processing permit applications, ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations, and coordinating with inspectors, contractors, and the public. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills and a strong understanding of permitting processes.

Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria) Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification) High school diploma or equivalent 1-3 years related experience in permit coordination, building inspections, or municipal government Familiarity with the building codes, zoning regulations, and construction permit requirements Experience in a municipal building department or the construction industry preferred Knowledge of local and state permitting regulations preferred Certification as a Permit Technician (e.g., ICC Permit Technician Certificate) is a plus preferred Proficiency in permitting software, Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with the public and professionals Ability to review documents for accuracy and compliance Ability to manage multiple permit applications and deadlines efficiently Ability to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as writing routine reports and correspondence, and speaking effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients. Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.
Travel Requirements
This position does not require regular travel as part of its primary responsibilities. However, occasional travel
may be required, up to 10%, primarily for occasional off-site meetings, training sessions, or company events.
Travel, when necessary, will be communicated in advance and aligned with business needs.
