Personal Care Assistant (PCA)

Location: Olympia, WA

Schedule:

• Start Time: 7am-9am (depending on elementary, middle, high school)
• End Time: 2:30pm-3:30pm (depending on elementary, middle, high school)

Job Summary

Seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) to support students with academic, behavioral, and physical needs. PCAs work closely with teachers, case managers, and specialists to implement individualized education plans and promote inclusive learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction in areas such as motor skills, self-help, and behavior regulation
• Support students with disabilities in daily activities including feeding, toileting, hygiene, and mobility
• Monitor and reinforce positive behavior strategies
• Assist with physical development activities and transitions to mainstream classrooms
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and health-related interventions
• Collaborate with educators, therapists, and support staff to meet student goals
• Attend required training sessions and professional development
• Safely assist students using orthopedic equipment and mobility aids
• Promote social interaction and independence among students

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or higher degrees
• 1 year experience working in the school
• CPR

Required Clearances (must be current within 1 year):

• Paraeducators: ETS Para-Pro Assessment or Master Teacher Assessment, Washington State mandated paraeducator training by timelines established by the state. Must score 461 or higher.

• Right Response Training. PRIGHT RESPONSE® Certification - Service Alternatives
• Suicide Prevention Training
• Fingerprints: Washington State Patrol (WSP) and FBI, Renewal every 2 years.
• Washington State Patrol (WSP) Background Check (WATCH Report)
• Background Check: Within 12 months before start
• Federal and State for the last 7 years
•      Sex Offender Search: Within 12 months before start
•      OIG: Within 12 months before start
•      GSA: Within 12 months before start

Skills:

• Knowledge of First Aid and CPR
• Basic record-keeping and documentation
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
