JOB DESCRIPTION
THERE ARE TWO POSITIONS AVAILABLE (1 DEFENSE FOCUSED IN NEW ORLEANS AND 1 PLAINTIFF FOCUSED IN METAIRIE)
Join a prestigious and well-respected law firm located in Metairie, known for its excellence in personal injury and civil litigation. Their attorneys are recognized for their trial experience, client advocacy, and commitment to achieving outstanding results. They are seeking a skilled Paralegal with a strong background in trial preparation to join our growing litigation team.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a personal injury litigation practice, with hands-on experience supporting attorneys through all phases of the litigation process—from case inception through trial. You will play a key role in organizing case materials, preparing for depositions and trial, managing medical documentation, and assisting with state court e-filings.
- Assist in the drafting and review of legal documents
- Maintain calendar of events
- Assist in drafting and responding to discovery
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic case files.
- Track billable hours and expenses related to trial preparation activities.
- Assist with post-trial activities, including filing post-trial motions and appeals if necessary.
- Organize and manage trial exhibits, documents, and evidence.
- Coordinate with attorneys to prepare witness lists, subpoenas, and deposition summaries.
- Assist in preparing trial binders and other materials for courtroom use.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal and state deadlines
- Assist with post-trial activities, including filing post-trial motions and appeals if necessary
- Communicate with witnesses to schedule interviews, depositions, and trial appearances.
- Prepare witnesses for testimony by reviewing relevant documents and conducting mock examinations.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and logistics for out-of-town witnesses, if necessary.
- Draft, arrange for service of trial subpoenas in state and federal court, and follow-up to make sure that the subpoenas have been properly served on the witness.
- Strong understanding of legal principles, procedures, and terminology.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and witnesses.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
- Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and demonstrate attention to detail and time management skills.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a paralegal in personal injury litigation.
- Strong familiarity with Louisiana state court procedures and e-filing systems.
- Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
