Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys handling complex plaintiff-side Personal Injury matters. This role is ideal for a highly organized legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and enjoys taking an active role in case development, discovery, trial preparation, settlement, and client advocacy.

The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys throughout all phases of personal injury litigation, from initial case evaluation and investigation through settlement or trial, while ensuring deadlines, filings, medical records, and case documentation are handled with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and prepare legal documents, including:
  • Discovery requests and responses
  • Interrogatories
  • Requests for Production
  • Requests for Admission
  • Subpoenas
  • Motions
  • Witness declarations
  • Deposition summaries
  • Settlement documents
  • Other litigation-related documents
• Assist attorneys with personal injury case development, including gathering and organizing evidence related to liability and damages.
• Conduct client interviews and gather detailed information regarding accidents, injuries, medical treatment, lost wages, and other damages.
• Obtain, review, summarize, and organize medical records and medical bills.
• Review accident reports, photographs, insurance documentation, witness statements, employment records, and other evidence relevant to the client's claim.
• Prepare detailed case chronologies, medical summaries, damages summaries, and liability timelines.
• Assist attorneys in evaluating liability, injuries, damages, and potential case value.
• Coordinate and prepare for depositions involving clients, witnesses, medical providers, experts, and other parties.
• Schedule court reporters, videographers, interpreters, experts, witnesses, and other litigation resources.
• Assist attorneys with mediation and settlement preparation, including organizing settlement packages and supporting documentation.
• Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders, developing witness materials, and coordinating witness schedules.
• Conduct legal research using Westlaw and other legal research databases.
• Research applicable California personal injury laws, civil procedure, discovery requirements, and case law.
• Manage case deadlines, calendars, court filings, discovery schedules, and litigation timelines.
• Prepare demand packages and assist attorneys with settlement negotiations and case resolution.
• Communicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers, medical providers, opposing counsel, experts, vendors, and internal team members.
• Review and organize case documents to ensure files remain complete, accurate, and accessible.
• Maintain detailed case management records and ensure all litigation milestones are properly tracked.
• Support attorneys during both pre-litigation and active litigation phases.
• Provide recommendations and case updates based on document review, medical records, research, and case development.
• Perform additional litigation support duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Completion of an ABA-approved Paralegal Program.
• Minimum 2 years of litigation paralegal experience.
• Experience supporting plaintiff-side personal injury litigation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and discovery rules.
• Experience working with medical records, medical bills, or injury-related documentation preferred.
• Excellent legal writing, drafting, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Preferred

• Experience handling personal injury, civil litigation, or plaintiff-side matters.
• Experience with cases involving:
  • Automobile and trucking accidents
  • Premises liability
  • Slip-and-fall accidents
  • Wrongful death
  • Catastrophic injuries
  • Product liability
  • Other negligence-based claims
• Experience with legal research tools such as Westlaw.
• Proficiency with:
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Legal case management software such as Clio, MyCase, or similar platforms.
• Experience assisting with depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, or trial preparation.
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus but not required.
