Job Description

Chaffin Luhana is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Paralegal who takes ownership of their cases, anticipates what needs to happen next, and acts without waiting to be told. As a key member of the case team, you’ll partner closely with attorneys to move personal injury matters from development through resolution - communicating directly with clients, identifying issues and next steps, and coordinating with specialized teams across the firm.
This role is for a paralegal who understands how PI cases develop, exercises sound judgment, and takes responsibility for keeping cases moving forward.

What We’re Looking For

  • You know personal injury. You understand how a PI case should develop and recognize when something is off track.
  • You take ownership. You stay ahead of case needs and deadlines without waiting for reminders.
  • You think critically and act. You identify issues, determine what needs to happen next, take appropriate action, and know when to escalate.
  • You communicate well with clients. You lead with empathy while setting clear expectations, gathering critical information, and explaining what comes next.
  • You stay organized under pressure. You manage a full caseload, competing deadlines, and shifting priorities without losing sight of the details.
  • You value teamwork and accountability. You collaborate effectively, follow through on commitments, and keep case information accurate and current.
  • You embrace technology and AI. You’re comfortable learning and responsibly using technology, including AI-enabled tools, to work more efficiently, improve the quality of your work, and better support clients and the case team.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive cases forward. Manage personal injury matters from case development through resolution, working closely with your attorney to identify and address what is holding a case back.
  • Own client communication. Proactively keep clients informed, set expectations, gather needed information, and help them understand what comes next.
  • Stay ahead of case development. Monitor treatment, medical records and bills, liens, insurance issues, deadlines, and other case needs before they become obstacles.
  • Build strong cases. Develop and organize the medical, factual, wage-loss, and supporting evidence needed for demands, negotiations, litigation, and settlement.
  • Coordinate the moving pieces. Work with providers, insurers, lienholders, vendors, and other parties, and coordinate depositions, mediations, IMEs, hearings, and other case events.
  • Support litigation. Draft routine legal documents and assist with discovery, deposition preparation, exhibits, hearings, and trial preparation.
  • Protect deadlines and case integrity. Monitor statutes of limitations and other critical dates while keeping Litify accurate, current, and reflective of what is happening in the case.

A Pod, Not a Pool
You’ll be part of a defined case team - not general support for whoever needs help that day. You’ll work closely with your attorney, know the cases you’re responsible for, and have access to specialized teams across the firm to help get the work done.

Why Chaffin Luhana
Real responsibility with real support. Paralegals are trusted members of the case team with meaningful responsibility for their cases and clients. You’re also not expected to do everything yourself. Specialized teams support functions including medical records, medical review, liens, intake, accounting, and other case-development needs.
A modern platform. Chaffin Luhana is a nationally recognized personal injury and mass-tort firm that invests in technology, AI-enabled tools, systems, and processes designed to help our teams work smarter, improve quality, and deliver results.
Doing Good by Doing Right™. Our clients are often navigating some of the most difficult periods of their lives. Results, accountability, compassion, and exceptional client service all matter here. Through the Chaffin Luhana Foundation, team members also have opportunities to support charitable causes that matter to them.
A culture that respects life outside of work. We provide PTO that is meant to be used, separate sick time, paid holidays, and a typical firm closure between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Qualifications
Required
  • 1+ years of hands-on personal injury paralegal experience involving auto, premises liability, workers’ compensation, or similar matters.
  • Working knowledge of the PI case lifecycle from case development through resolution.
  • Strong client communication, organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases, competing priorities, and critical deadlines.
  • Strong judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with attorneys and support teams.
  • Proficiency with technology and case-management systems, with a willingness to learn and responsibly use AI-enabled tools as part of your work.
  • Commitment to Chaffin Luhana’s Core Values: Results Driven, Excellence Without Paralysis, Compassionate and Authentic, In It Together, and Innovative Growth.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting matters through both pre-litigation and litigation.
  • Experience with discovery, depositions, court filings, and trial preparation.
  • Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records and working with medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with lien identification and resolution.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Litify, or a comparable case-management platform.
  • Paralegal certificate or degree from an ABA-accredited program.

Candidates who meet the core requirements and demonstrate strong PI knowledge, ownership, judgment, and case-management ability are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every preferred qualification.
