    Job Description

An Alloy Personal Trainer primarily focuses on delivering science-based, functional strength training protocols within a specialized small group setting (typically 2 to 6 clients per session). Unlike traditional large-group fitness classes or bootcamp instructors, an Alloy trainer provides personalized instruction, form correction, and tailored exercise modifications, with a heavy emphasis on catering to the active 40+ adult population.

Alloy trainers balance technical fitness coaching with client management and studio operations:

    • Session Coaching: Lead small group personal training sessions, ensuring proper form, technique, and breathing. ]
    • Exercise Tailoring: Adapt and modify established Alloy programming based on individual client limitations, injuries, and functional assessments (such as the Functional Movement Screen).
    • Technology & Tracking: Load client info into the Alloy app before shifts, record daily workout progress, and track attendance via software like MindBody.
    • Community Building: Foster a fun, supportive environment to build strong relationships with members and boost retention.
    • Studio Maintenance: Arrive 30 minutes before shifts to set up equipment, cue workouts on digital displays, and maintain a safe, clean training floor.
    • Client Retention: Follow up with no-show clients and send motivational messages or "at-a-boy" acknowledgments through the operating system.

Because of the highly specialized client demographic, Alloy look for specific credentials and interpersonal traits:

    • Education/Certification: A nationally recognized personal training certification (e.g., NASM, ACE, ACSM) or a degree in Exercise Science.
    • Experience: Typically 1 to 5 years of coaching experience, ideally with a focus on small-group dynamics and the 40–75 age demographic.
    • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of foundational movement patterns, kinetic cueing, and progression/regression models.
    • Availability: Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekend shifts, alongside attending mandatory staff meetings

    Typical Benefits & Environment

    • Shift Structure: Often starts as part-time (10–12 hours/week) with the opportunity to transition into full-time leadership or Head Trainer positions as the studio expands.
    • Uniform Provided: Coaches wear standard Alloy branding (approved logo tops and black pants/shorts).
    • Pre-Designed Programming: Training blocks and tracks are designed by the Director of Training, removing the burden of independent programming from the coach.
