Personal Trainer Job Description Department: 900 – Wellness Reports to: Fitness Supervisor Revision Date: 7/8/2026 Nestled next to the protected open space of the Arastradero Preserve, Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club (PAHGCC) blends the outdoors, family, and exceptional golf in one of the most idyllic locations in the Bay Area. PAHGCC was built in 1958 and developed with a vision to be the family club inclusive of women and children and has been a leading example of family membership ever since. Our welcoming and distinctive Private Club provides a premier championship golf course, year-round recreation, and artistic culinary and social activities for Members, their families and guests. JOB PURPOSE We are currently seeking an energetic and committed Personal Trainer to join our Fitness Team. The ideal candidate is excited about health and wellness, skilled in delivering effective training sessions, and confident in connecting with our member community. This position is a great fit for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact by creating a positive, inclusive, and results-focused fitness experience. RESPONSIBILTIES: - Provide high-quality, personalized fitness training sessions tailored to each member’s goals, abilities, and interests.
- Engage with members to build strong relationships and promote participation in wellness programs.
- Accurately input, record, and track all personal training sessions and client progress in club systems.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming fitness environment at all times.
- Collaborate with other fitness and wellness staff to enhance programming and member engagement.
- Stay current on fitness trends, training techniques, and continuing education to ensure top-quality service.
- Fill out training services log to keep accurate billing information and type of service provided. This will also ensure that all appointments are billed and accounted for payroll
- Communicate with front desk of any appointment cancellations as soon as they occur
- Represent Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club with professionalism, enthusiasm, and integrity.
- Assists with questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for members and class participants
- Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs
- Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to
- Performs related duties as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Fitness Management, or related field OR equivalent experience in a related field.)
- Proven experience working as a personal trainer or fitness professional.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine desire to engage with members.
- Strong organizational skills, including accurate session documentation and scheduling.
- A collaborative attitude and commitment to creating an inclusive, community-oriented atmosphere.
- Ability to motivate and inspire individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels.
LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS - Must provide valid documents to work in the U.S.
- Current Personal Training Certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., NASM, ACE, NSCA, ACSM, ISSA).
- CPR/AED certification (current or obtained within 30 days of hire).
PHYSCIAL REQUIRMENTS - This position requires a flexible schedule for working evenings, weekends, and all holidays as determined by business needs
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 80 pounds.
- Required to stand for long periods
- Must be able to handle indoor and outdoor conditions
- May be subject to loud music or noise
ABOUT OUR OFFER - This is a part-time non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $20.00
- Eligible to receive commission on services
- $55.00 per class for instruction work

- Complimentary meals provided up to six days per week, excluding designated aerification days
- Our premier championship golf course is open for staff to enjoy on select Mondays
