Description of Work

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

This position is located at Craven Correctional Institution in Vanceboro, NC, Craven County. The prison is a Medium Custody Adult Male Felon Diagnostic Processing Center which houses 850 offenders. Employees in this class provide assistance with the coordination of all personnel activities carried out by the Personnel Department at the direction of the Management Team.

Key Duties Include:

  • Responsible for preparing interview packages and scheduling new hire interviews, then completing and submitting the request for approval packages for the various stages of the hiring process for vacant positions, as well as organizing the position history files
  • This position will become DCI Certified running employee background checks
  • This position serves as the facility benefits representative and conduct all new hire benefit orientations
  • The position will set up and maintain employee records, compose correspondence, and assist with the weekly collection and entry of employee timesheets in the SAP Payroll System.
  • This position should be familiar with the HR policies order to assist the HR Technician with processing worker's compensation, FMLA, ADA, Leave of Absence and Shared Leave packages as needed in order to maintain the personnel office.

Salary Range: $39,244 - $68,679

About the Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
