Position Overview and Responsibilities:

This is a professional position with a high level of responsibility. In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is expected at all times to be aware of and abide by the Department's Standards of conduct as well as any and all departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general orders applicable to performing the duties of this position. All functions listed herein are essential functions of this position.

This is a confidential human resources (HR) position responsible for, but not limited to, the coordination and processing of all phases of the employee leave of absences and workers' compensation functions. These functions include the following duties:

• In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is expected at all times to be aware of and abide by the Department's Standards of conduct as well as any and all departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general orders applicable to performing the duties of this position. All functions listed herein are essential functions of this position.
• This is a confidential human resources (HR) position responsible for, but not limited to, the coordination and processing of all phases of the employee leave of absences and workers' compensation functions. These functions include the following duties:
• Monitoring, processing, and tracking of all employee leaves of absence relating to Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Family Supportive work Program (FSWP) requests and providing required notifications in a timely manner.
• Monitoring, processing and tracking all employee leaves of absence relating to the administration of Parental Leave benefits following the birth or adoption of a child.
• Monitoring and tracking of all employee leaves of absence with and without pay (LWOP), including calculating and collection of salary overpayments, processing LWOP payroll actions for monthly payroll processing and/or cancellation and reissuing of accurate pay warrants.
• Monitoring, processing, and tracking for Sick Leave Pool (SLP) membership, maintains an accurate spreadsheet of SLP members, SLP leave usage, coordinates the proper handling of notices to members when additional hours are needed to replenish the SLP. Process and track Sick Leave Transfer (SLT) requests in accordance with applicable guidelines and Directives.
• Receiving, reviewing and processing all Workers' Compensation (WC) Notice of Injury forms; coordinates the employees return to work status including the review of medical documentation and determination of alternate and light duty work necessary to meet restrictions placed by medical provider until maximum medical improvement (MMI) is reached and employee returns to regular work status. Calculates and processes additional retirement contributions owed for employees that have returned to work from an injury and have remained on work status for 31 days or longer.
• Communicating and coordinating to ensure proper handling of all WC claims with the medical care provider, Risk Management, legal staff, employees, applicable management and our internal employee relations section. Ensures that all lost time cases are timely handled including the completion of a 13-week wage statement, processing the PAR and timesheet in PF for FTE employees and verifying accurate payroll processing and ensures that all WC lost time case files and information is appropriately maintained.
• Reviewing WC Data Reports to ensure all listed employees are correctly identified as agency employees and verify accuracy of employees receiving indemnity payments. Completing monthly WC and dashboard reports, participates in the quarterly DEP Safety Committee Meetings and weekly Loss Control Committee program meetings.
• Coordinating active Military leaves of absence and processing paperwork for additional retirement contributions upon return of a military employee.
• Reconciling Administrative Leave Audits on a monthly basis.
• Serving as the liaison with employees, manager and People First for all attendance and leave policy questions, timesheet completion, and resolution of leave balance issues.
• Informing supervisor potential problems and workload issues in areas of responsibility and performing other related duties as required and/or assigned. Completes special assignments as assigned by supervisor.
• Assists with fulfilling Public Records Request (PRR) to include employment verifications.
• Assists in developing and presenting training for all Attendance and Leave functions and WC.
