The Personnel Technician is responsible for ensuring proper and efficient placement of substitute for certified staff; as well as performing a variety of clerical duties.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to take and follow directions easily
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years prior experience in secretarial/clerical office environment
- Exceptional computer skills with specific knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to quickly learn the Human Resources Management system and the Aesop on-line substitute teacher placement system
- Must be bondable for notary
Essential Functions:
- Ability to complete tasks under pressure of deadlines and multi-task with various pressing duties

- Ability to use a telephone for extended periods of time in a professional, courteous manner
- Timely and accurately file and organize employee personnel files
- Ability to complete background checks
- Ability to take notes for HR Meetings, Negotiations, ext.
- Ability to complete detailed and complex assignments and organize/prioritize projects with minimal supervision
- Must demonstrate discretion, tact, and confidentiality, often in stressful situations
- Effectively communicate with all GFPS employees to ensure appropriate placement of substitute teachers and substitute para educators
- Maintain substitute teacher database to ensure proper and efficient placement of substitutes
- Manage master calendar of teacher absences to prepare for upcoming events in order to avoid having uncovered classrooms
- Coordinates and conducts interviews of substitute teachers and crossing guards
- Hiring decisions made in conjunction with HR Director
- Coordinate Quarterly & Yearly Trainings for Subs, Yearly Trainings for Crossing Guards
- Compiles and maintains monthly reporting on teacher absences with prior year data comparisons, maintain accurate payroll reports weekly
- Telephone placement of substitute teachers, substitute para educators and sub crossing guards for all Great Falls Public Schools
- Maintain confidential employee personnel files for substitute teachers
- Appropriately handle employee relations matters
- Other personnel/secretarial/clerical duties as assigned
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of the automated sub-calling system
- Ability to troubleshoot and work independently
