Position Title: Seasonal pH Clerk

Classification: Seasonal, Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Pay: $20.75 – $21.50 per hour

The pH Clerk is a role that demands precision, curiosity, and a deep understanding of chemistry's practical applications. Each day presents new challenges and opportunities to ensure that the water pH levels in our processes are optimal for food production. This role is not just about measurements; it’s about being safe and being precise. It's about understanding how pH impacts every stage of food manufacturing, from ingredient preparation to final packaging.

During our Harvest season, you will be expected to work at least 6 days a week. You will work either Swing or Graveyard shift to support our Cannery during this time. Our Season runs from Mid-July through end of September but could extend.

This position will be primarily responsible for:

  • Monitoring multiple pH levels and final probe pH for the city.
  • Controlling the pH levels by adjusting chemicals via pumps located near the workstation.
  • Cleaning equipment directly related to the role periodically throughout the shift, at minimum once per day.
  • Adjusting chemical pump speeds as required.
  • Logging data for all pump speed changes and chemical tote levels in Excel.
  • Continuously reading data graphs.
  • Changing graph readers with precision.
  • Creating daily reports and distributing reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Communicate, read, and write effectively.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures.
  • Verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within the team.
  • Must be able to work any shift and up to six (6) days per week during the Harvest Season (mid-July through early October).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have one or more years of college experience.
  • Have a strong background in science (preferably chemistry).

Physical Requirements:

Frequent, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; moderate stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and occasional fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 25% or more sitting, 25% or less walking, and 75% or more standing. The job is performed under rare temperature variations and limited office environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift 30 lbs. is required.
