Summary
Provides patient care consistent with the Mission and Vision of the pharmacy department and hospital that includes all areas of pharmacy practice related to specific job assignments. The Pharmacist must accept personal responsibility and accountability for the patient's outcomes. Must utilize effective problem solving skills as appropriate. Conveys enthusiasm and sincerity and promotes Carson Tahoe Health and its services in a positive manner to all customers and co-workers. Must be flexible to change and have the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Coordinates work flow with other team members to ensure a productive and efficient environment. Works with and precepts students/interns as assigned. Provides oversight for technical staff as assigned/necessary. May be involved in organization committees.
Qualifications
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Current Pharmacist license in Nevada or eligible to obtain
Preferred:
- Hospital pharmacy and sterile compounding experience
Essential Functions
- Evaluates medication therapy of patients and makes recommendations to physicians to provide the best possible therapy for the patient in the most efficient manner.
- Provides drug information to physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific factors and performs satisfactorily related to patient's age.
- Dispenses medications.
- Supervises Pharmacy Technicians in unit dosage, intravenous admixture and prescription preparation/distribution and provides general oversight as assigned to pharmacy operations.
- Responsible for data collection, adverse drug reaction reporting, drug utilization evaluation, quality assurance audits, and inventory control.
- Demonstrates competency levels in all aspects of the applicable pharmacist role.
- Demonstrates knowledge of drug therapy protocols and patient management on these protocols.
- Demonstrates knowledge of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles in drug dosing.
- Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapy for patients.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
