 Pharmacist I (Retail / Ambulatory Care)

 Location: Lorain, OH / Sandusky, OH (Onsite)
 Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
 Job Type: Contract / Part-Time to Start (Potential Full-Time Coverage)
 Pay Rate: Up to $60/hour (DOE)
 Start Date: As soon as available
 Duration: Ongoing, based on coverage needs

 

Overview

We are seeking a licensed Pharmacist to support a high-performing ambulatory pharmacy environment. This role is ideal for a clinical professional who thrives in a patient-focused setting while balancing operational, regulatory, and business responsibilities.

 

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with patients, prescribers, and pharmacy staff while contributing to both clinical outcomes and pharmacy performance initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Patient Care

  • Evaluate, prepare, and dispense medications in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements
  • Provide direct patient consultation regarding medication therapy, usage, and potential interactions
  • Review patient care plans to ensure therapeutic appropriateness and optimize outcomes
  • Collaborate with prescribers and healthcare staff to develop effective treatment plans


Pharmacy Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and organizational pharmacy regulations
  • Maintain oversight of controlled substance security, record keeping, and quality assurance protocols
  • Monitor and update patient profiles for insurance verification and regulatory compliance
  • Process and review prescription claims, ensuring accurate reimbursement and resolving discrepancies


Leadership & Team Support

  • Support oversight of pharmacy technicians, including scheduling, training, and performance management
  • Monitor team performance to ensure adherence to operational and clinical standards
  • Participate in hiring processes and contribute to team development initiatives
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to improve workflow, efficiency, and patient care delivery


Business & Administrative Functions

  • Assist with financial oversight, including expense control and revenue optimization
  • Contribute to pharmacy performance metrics and business goals
  • Participate in marketing initiatives, promotions, and community engagement efforts
  • Support reporting, scheduling, and daily operational planning


Customer Experience

  • Deliver a high level of customer service, addressing patient inquiries and resolving escalations
  • Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of patient concerns
  • Promote a positive and professional pharmacy experience


Additional Duties

  • Participate in departmental meetings and ongoing training initiatives
  • Operate pharmacy point-of-sale systems
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution
  • Active, unrestricted Ohio Pharmacist License (required)
  • 1-3 years of retail or ambulatory pharmacy experience
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical products, drug interactions, and patient care practices

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ambulatory or outpatient pharmacy settings
  • Knowledge of 340B Drug Program
  • Exposure to pharmacy operations, financial performance, or team leadership
