Location: Novant Health Pender Medical Center – Burgaw, NC

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm and every 3rd/4th weekend 8am-12pm

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) Certification
  • PhD, preferred. Doctorate of Pharmacy.
• Experience: Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in health system pharmacy, required. 
• Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required.
  • Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other applicable certification must be obtained and continuously maintained within 2 years of start date as applicable to the role; excludes PRN team members who may not be eligible to take certification exam, required. 
• Additional Skills (required): Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.

• Verify medication orders to ensure safe, accurate, and evidence-based medication therapy for patients across a variety of care settings.
• Partner with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals during clinical rounds to provide medication recommendations, therapeutic consultations, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care.
• Provide day-to-day oversight, mentoring, and support to pharmacy technicians while fostering a collaborative, high-performing pharmacy team.
• Maintain pharmacy inventory through effective purchasing, monitoring, and replenishment processes, including the secure management and documentation of controlled substances in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Promote medication safety initiatives and contribute to quality improvement efforts that enhance patient care and operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and organizational policies related to pharmacy practice.
