Job Title: Staff Pharmacist (Evening Shift)

Pay Rate: $65.00/hr (Paid Weekly)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 5:30 PM – 2:00 AM
Weekend Rotation: Every 4th weekend, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a licensed Staff Pharmacist to join a fast-paced long-term care pharmacy team. In this role, you will oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensure the safe and accurate dispensing of medications, supervise pharmacy staff, and maintain compliance with all state, federal, DEA, and HIPAA regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, clinically knowledgeable, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care while supporting an efficient pharmacy workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring workflow efficiency and timely order fulfillment
  • Accurately review and verify new and refill prescription orders prior to dispensing
  • Ensure the accuracy of medication packaging, labeling, and final product verification
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and production staff to maintain quality standards and delivery schedules
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of sterile IV medications and solutions
  • Monitor workflow dashboards and ensure work queues are completed daily
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, DEA, HIPAA, and pharmacy regulations
  • Assist with the ordering, receiving, storage, documentation, and inventory management of controlled substances, including Schedule II medications
  • Provide drug information and evaluate potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient care
  • Provide evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage as scheduled
  • Mentor and support pharmacy staff by providing constructive feedback and promoting professional development
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) or PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Current Pharmacist license in good standing
  • Strong clinical knowledge, including interpretation of:
    • Drug-to-drug interactions
    • Drug-to-disease interactions
    • Drug-to-food interactions
    • Allergy screening
  • Ability to accurately dispense prescription medications in a high-volume environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a long-term care, institutional, or specialty pharmacy setting
  • Experience supervising pharmacy technicians or production staff
  • Sterile compounding and IV preparation experience
  • Strong leadership and workflow management skills

Work Environment

This position is based in a long-term care pharmacy and utilizes standard pharmacy and office equipment, including computers, dispensing systems, rolling carts, and automated pharmacy technology. The work environment is fast-paced and may involve elevated noise levels.
