Pharmacist

Job Description

The primary role of the Pharmacist is to utilize clinical skills to perform utilization management reviews, including prior authorizations, coverage exceptions, and quantity limit exceptions. You will complete these reviews independently while collaborating with a team of pharmacy professionals. Quality and performance are assessed through monthly goals, and new pharmacists are considered for long-term employment, with contract evaluations every six months.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct utilization management reviews for prior authorizations, coverage exceptions, and quantity limit exceptions.
  • Collaborate with peers and other pharmacy professionals to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Meet monthly quality and productivity goals.
  • Consider opportunities for specialized case reviews post-peak season, such as oncology or hepatitis C cases.
  • Cross-train for other departments, including Medication Therapy Management and Call Center Counseling.

Essential Skills

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science Pharmacy degree.
  • Current pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Two years of work experience in retail, managed care, or clinical pharmacy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Motivated self-starter who can make clinical decisions independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency with learning new computer systems and basic IT troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Pharmacy Benefits Management or Case/Care Management preferred.
  • Previous retail experience highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel, and ability to type 35+ WPM.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote position, available in any state except California, Hawaii, or Virginia. Candidates can be licensed in any U.S. state, but cannot reside in California, Hawaii, or Virginia. Work hours are typically 8-hour shifts starting between 9-10am CST, with end times as late as 6:30pm CST. Overtime may be required during peak season, which is typically November through May. Training lasts approximately 10-12 weeks, with a mix of instructor-led sessions, videos, and practice cases. Time off is limited during training, but emergencies will be accommodated when possible.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $55.00/hr.
