Pharmacist (Part-Time)

Job Description

Title: Pharmacist

Department: Pharmacy

Classification: Non-Exempt/Part-Time

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Direct Reports: Pharmacy Technicians

Schedule: 2–3 days per week, 8:30am-5:30pm (16-24 hours)

The Pharmacist dispenses medications, provides patient education, collaborates with prescribing personnel to ensure suitability of medication, and checks for potential allergies, medical conditions, etc. that could lead to adverse interactions.

• Compound and dispense medications.
• Review prescriptions to ensure accuracy and determine suitability.
• Check patient charts for allergies, medical conditions, and possible interactions with pre-existing prescriptions.
• Educate patients on drug information such as dosage, side effects, interactions, proper storage, etc. (patient counseling).
• Order pharmaceutical supplies and monitor inventory.
• Discuss and suggest over the counter (OTC) medications for patients that work in conjunction with prescribed medications.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with all legal requirements.
• Collaborate with prescribing physicians and advanced practice providers to monitor, review, and evaluate the effectiveness of medication(s) or dosage. Make suggestions for suitability as needed.
• Provide immunizations to patients.
• Plan, implement, and monitor procedures for storing, labeling, handling, preparing, mixing, and dispensing medications, per legal guidelines.
• Reach out to insurance companies for prior authorizations.
• Refer patients to other health professionals when applicable.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff.
• Prepare and present reports to leadership and management as needed.
• Follow all HIPAA and privacy laws. Uphold the highest level of confidentiality.
• Perform other related duties as assigned. 

• Graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
• Current BLS certification (required within first 90-days of employment).
• Valid North Carolina pharmacist license.

• Knowledge of FDA health and safety regulations.

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership skills- ability to motivate and lead other pharmacy staff.

The noise level in the work environment is low, consistent with that of a typical office.
