Pharmacist - Job Description

Position Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for safely preparing and dispensing medications, providing medication counseling to patients, and helping ensure patients receive the most effective drug therapy. This role also manages the 340B Drug Program, ensures compliance with pharmacy regulations, supervises pharmacy staff, and helps create a positive customer experience through friendly, professional service.

Schedule

Part-Time: 1-2 Days per Week

  • Monday (Required): 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Optional Second Day (Choose One):
  • Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM
  • Thursday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Flexible scheduling available for the second day.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy school.
  • Completion of an approved emergency contraception training program.
  • Eligible for or currently holding a valid Georgia pharmacist license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR/AED certification upon hire.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of pharmacist experience preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of medications, drug interactions, and side effects.
  • Excellent math and science skills.
  • Ability to accurately measure and prepare medications.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve prescription or medication errors.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Georgia pharmacist license (or eligibility to obtain one).

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Medication Management

  • Review prescriptions and physician orders for accuracy and safety.
  • Identify potential drug interactions or therapy concerns.
  • Prepare, package, label, and dispense medications.
  • Monitor patient medication therapies and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Counsel patients on proper medication use, side effects, and treatment plans.
  • Answer medication-related questions from patients and healthcare providers.

Pharmacy Operations

  • Oversee pharmacy technicians and verify their work.
  • Review prescription entries, charges, and inventory processes.
  • Maintain accurate records, especially for controlled substances.
  • Remove expired, damaged, or outdated medications from inventory.
  • Ensure the pharmacy remains clean, safe, and organized.

Compliance & Program Management

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations.
  • Maintain DEA compliance and controlled substance records.
  • Manage and monitor 340B Drug Program compliance.
  • Stay current on pharmacy laws and regulatory changes.
  • Follow infection-control and patient safety procedures.

Leadership & Administrative Duties

  • Supervise and support pharmacy staff.
  • Train pharmacy technicians, students, interns, and other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Coordinate with pharmacy vendors and service providers.
  • Manage relationships with the pharmacy management company.
  • Attend leadership meetings.
  • Lead pharmacy staff meetings and document meeting minutes.
  • Contribute to team goals and support other pharmacy-related initiatives as needed.

Success in This Role

A successful pharmacist in this position is detail-oriented, customer-focused, knowledgeable about medication therapy, committed to regulatory compliance, and capable of leading pharmacy operations while delivering excellent patient care.

This is a Contract position based out of Ringgold, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
