Job Description
The Pharmacist will compound and dispense pharmaceutical drugs, medicines, and prescriptions, and provide direct consultative services to healthcare professionals and patients regarding drug therapy.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical arithmetic, chemistry, materia-medica, and pharmacology
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing methods
- Federal and State laws relative to dispensing and use of narcotics, poisons, and drugs
- Principles and methods for curriculum and training design; instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
- Ability to compound a wide variety of drugs and medicines
- Assimilate and provide information on drugs and their actions
- Advise and consult with medical and nursing staff regarding the properties of drug substances
- Counsel patients regarding use, possible side effects, and storage of medication
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and patients
- Conduct drug research and drug utilization studies
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports and records
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a valid license as a Registered Pharmacist issued by the State of California Board of Pharmacy
- Note: If the minimum qualifications include an educational or certificate/license requirement, applicants must submit proof of requirements with the application. Failure to submit proof of requirements may result in disqualification from the examination.
General Qualifications
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License may be required at the time of appointment
- Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to physical disability will be considered for accommodation on a case-by-case basis

- The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months
