This job accurately compounds IV Admixtures and other assigned preparations utilizing aseptic technique and proper pharmaceutical procedures; maintains stock in all assigned areas including the IV room, Central Pharmacy, compounded items and bottles and vials; accurately fills medication orders; and accurately enters ADR data into computer.
Education Requirements
- Enrolled in good standing in an accredited College of Pharmacy
- Graduate who has successfully passed the NABP Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination
Work Experience Requirements
- Experience working with standard Pharmacy and office equipment
Certifications Required
- Current Pharmacy Intern Permit from the State Board of Pharmacy
- Permitted to practice as a pharmacy intern by the Board of Pharmacy in the state of practice
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities
Job Duties
- Prepares IV admixtures and other extemporaneous compounds
- Demonstrates professional growth
- Stocks and fills medication orders
- Completes assignments and projects
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style
- Other related duties as required

- Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
