Pharmacy Assistant - Bedside Delivery
Full-time / 40 hours per week / 1st shift

Summary:
Promotes Meds to Beds program, serves as lead contact for patients and providers regarding prescription medication delivery services between assigned nursing unit areas and a designated outpatient / retail pharmacy. Originates and completes prescription orders to include computer order entry, third party billing/insurance verification, copay collection, maintaining accurate records, and delivery customer service excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education Required:
- Completion of basic high school course work in science and mathematics
Experience and Training Required:
- Twelve months (12) Pharmacy Technician experience OR completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician training program
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification
- Licensed as a pharmacy technician by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy (License can be applied for, at time of offer acceptance but employee may not start working independently until issuance of license).

- Ability to read and write English and follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to communicate verbally, in person and over the telephone, and in writing with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare personnel
- Ability to acquire skills necessary to operate department and contracted vendor computer applications and other equipment
- Sufficient knowledge of Ohio State Board of Pharmacy and DEA rules and laws
- Ability to read and transcribe required information from prescription medication orders into computer system
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and department records
- Ability to work well within a team environment: by accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback; by supporting team goals and encouraging other team members; and by collaborating with patient care team members to consolidate work, solve problems, create new methods and/or reduce costs
- Ability to display flexibility/adaptability in meeting environmental constraints and demands placed on services as is common with changing reimbursement and managed care targets
- Assumes accountability for demonstrating consistent service behaviors in concert with the customer service policy
- Ability to serve as technical expert for prescription delivery program including remaining professional, calm, and positive all times when working with patients, family members, colleagues, staff, and all third parties involved in the program
- Ability to multi-task and complete work functions in a timely manner as required for program success
Level of Physical Demands:
- Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time; pushes, pulls, carries, and lifts light to medium loads
- Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and sharps; risks of falls, strains, contagious diseases, cuts from broken glass, needle punctures, etc.
