Job Title: Pharmacy Clerk
Job Description
This role supports a high-volume pharmacy operation by accurately filling prescription orders, preparing and packaging medications, and maintaining a consistent workflow in a fast-paced production environment. The Pharmacy Clerk works under the supervision of a Pharmacist to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, efficiently, and in compliance with pharmacy standards and privacy regulations, while collaborating closely with team members and contributing to a clean, organized, and quality-focused workplace.
Responsibilities
- Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules, ensuring accuracy in count and medication selection.
- Retrieve and process Unit of Use and bulk medication items from inventory for order fulfillment.
- Read computer-generated screens to locate indicated medications on labeled shelves and verify the size and strength of products before filling orders.
- Replenish medications in automated dispensing cells to full capacity, including opening large quantities of bottles and cases of product.
- Use basic mathematical reasoning to count or calculate the appropriate number of units needed to fill prescriptions.
- Operate handheld scanner units to scan product barcodes for replenishment and inventory tracking.
- Demonstrate effective problem resolution skills by recognizing issues, addressing them promptly, and escalating concerns when necessary.
- Maintain focus and acute attention to detail while performing repetitive tasks, ensuring absolute accuracy in all filling and packaging activities.
- Maintain the pharmacy floor in a clean, orderly, and safe condition in accordance with pharmacy standards.
- Understand and abide by federal and state HIPAA laws and pharmacy standard procedures to protect patient safety and privacy.
- Process orders for shipping, including folding and packing paperwork and attaching shipping documentation to outgoing orders.
- Support pharmacy operations such as packaging prescriptions, preparing medication coolers for specialty medications, and assisting with medication refills.
- Perform data entry and order entry tasks accurately, including updating pharmacy systems and maintaining detailed records.
- Provide administrative and pharmacy support, including filing, inventory assistance, and general office tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and other team members to meet daily production goals and maintain continuous workflow.
- Deliver customer service-oriented support to internal team members and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in a dynamic production environment.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook, for documentation, communication, and data entry.
- Adhere to quality-focused processes and contribute to continuous improvement in pharmacy logistics and micro-fulfillment operations.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and consistently carry 20-30 pounds of merchandise.
- Ability to select and lift objects from shelves and carry them to the order filling line.
- Ability to stand and walk continuously during an 8-hour shift.
- Ability to perform frequent bending, twisting, reaching, grasping, and pinching.
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills to support accurate counting, documentation, and communication.
- Visual acuity to read computer screens, handheld scanners, and medication labels accurately.
- Working knowledge of pharmacy operations and professional standards.
- Good computer skills, including comfort using pharmacy software and related systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while performing repetitive tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain focus and quality in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in pharmacy operations, micro-fulfillment, or a similar healthcare logistics environment is a plus.
- Pharmacy technician experience or pharmacy technician certification is beneficial.
- Experience with packaging prescriptions and handling medication, including specialty medication coolers.
- Familiarity with inventory management, logistics, and administrative support in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook, and comfort with Excel-based data entry.
- Experience with order entry, data entry, and pharmacy support functions.
- Experience working in or around cleanroom environments is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive attitude and handle adversity and ambiguity well.

Work Environment
This position is fully onsite in a climate-controlled pharmacy and micro-fulfillment environment located in Lake Mary, FL. The role involves working in a fast-paced, high-volume production setting that relies on automated dispensing cells, handheld scanners, and computer-based pharmacy systems. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with shifts that may fall between 3:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The broader hours of operation are from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and may change based on business needs. The workday typically includes a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks, which are scheduled and not flexible. The position requires continuous standing and walking for the duration of the shift, as well as frequent lifting, bending, reaching, and handling of medication products. Equipment such as a laptop and headset is provided to support day-to-day responsibilities. The environment emphasizes teamwork, quality, and adherence to pharmacy standards, with a strong focus on accuracy, safety, and patient privacy.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
