    Overview:

    Focus- Hazardous Drugs USP <800>, mostly day shift, every 4th weekend staffing, holiday rotation

    Job Description Summary:

    Provides compliance and quality improvement support to the pharmacy enterprise. Collaborates to plan, schedule and conduct routine audits and administrative tasks that support the quality management program. Assures regulatory and compliance with applicable regulations, policies, procedures, and expectations. Leads a variety of quality improvement and process improvement initiatives as requested.

    Job Description:

    Essential Functions:

    • Understands requirements and regulations related to applicable USP standards. Assesses various non-pharmacy areas related to compliance and adherences for expected organizational, state, federal, and governmental regulatory policies and procedures.
    • Maintains current knowledge base of all applicable national and state regulations. Understands and assesses related to the State Board of Pharmacy requirements around storage, preparation, and dispensing of medications.
    • Acts as liaison to provide support during regulatory audits, assists in developing routine audits of staff processes, protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and conducts internal audits.
    • Provides quality and process improvement support under guidance of Pharmacy Administration. Assists in developing annual and on demand education and remediation planning efforts. Assists with quality and process improvement training, as needed.
    • Completes surface, air, and other environmental testing and coordinates testing with external vendors as needed. Completes assigned cleaning and compliance tasks as assigned.
    • Engages and has awareness of list-serve, practice advancements, legal or regulatory changes. Attends occasional seminars or conferences.

    Education Requirement:

    • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
    • Bachelor's degree, preferred.

    Licensure Requirement:

    Registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (Registered or Certified Pharmacy Technician), required.

    Certifications:

    • Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date (PTCB, ExCPT), required.
    • Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) within 6 months, required.

    Skills:

    • Must demonstrate ongoing Inpatient Pharmacy Tech II competencies, knowledge, and skills minimally.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills in pharmacy work environment.
    • Excellent computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint.
    • Knowledge and expertise in the principles of medication and pharmacy regulatory requirements including USP, the State Board of Pharmacy, and other regulatory agencies are preferred.

    Experience:

    • 3 years of experience as pharmacy technician, required.
    • One year of experience at NCH, preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    OCCASIONALLY: Climb stairs/ladder, Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens, Driving motor vehicles (work required) *additional testing may be required, Fume /Gases /Vapors, Lifting / Carrying: 21-40 lbs

    FREQUENTLY: Biohazard waste, Computer skills, Flexing/extending of neck, Interpreting Data, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 26-40 lbs, Reaching above shoulder, Sitting, Squat/kneel

    CONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, Bend/twist, Chemicals/Medications, Decision Making, Depth perception, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Hearing acuity, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Peripheral vision, Problem solving, Repetitive hand/arm use, Seeing - Far/near, Standing, Walking
