Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Director to lead the operational and clinical functions of a hospital pharmacy department. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the medication use process through strategic planning, department management, regulatory compliance, staff leadership, budgeting, and implementation of pharmacy best practices.
The ideal candidate is an experienced hospital pharmacy leader with a strong clinical background and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all operational and clinical activities of the Pharmacy Department.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve pharmacy practices in alignment with industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and accreditation requirements.
- Recruit, hire, mentor, develop, and retain high-performing pharmacy staff.
- Prepare and manage the department's annual operating budget.
- Submit capital expenditure requests in accordance with organizational policies.
- Review and update departmental policies and procedures annually or as required.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to improve medication safety and patient outcomes.
- Ensure effective medication management processes throughout the organization.
- Perform additional leadership responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements Required
- Pharm.D. or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Active Tennessee Pharmacist License.
- Minimum 5 years of pharmacy experience.
- Minimum 3 years of hospital pharmacy management experience.
Preferred - Pharmacy residency or fellowship training.
- Master's degree.
