Now Hiring: Pharmacy Manager (Technician-Led Model) – Central Austin

Peoples Rx is a locally-owned, holistic pharmacy that has served the Austin community for over 40 years and remains a beloved Austin institution.

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to step into aPharmacy Manager role at one of our key retail locations. This is a high-impact leadership position responsible for overseeing daily pharmacy operations, supporting team development, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience.

This location also serves as a central hub for company-wide vaccination efforts, requiring strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage high-volume, compliance-driven workflows.

This is a highly trusted role with significant responsibility and visibility across the organization.

Position Overview

As a Pharmacy Manager, you will lead the technician team, support pharmacy operations, and help drive consistency, efficiency, and service excellence. This role requires a strong leadership presence, operational awareness, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment. This is an opportunity for a seasoned technician to step into a leadership role with meaningful operational impact.

This is a full-time position, and candidates should be available to work 40 hours per week with a consistent and reliable schedule.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide daily leadership, direction, and support to pharmacy technicians

  • Train, mentor, and develop team members, supporting onboarding and ongoing growth

  • Help foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment

  • Collaborate with leadership on staffing needs and hiring decisions

Operations & Workflow Management
  • Oversee daily pharmacy workflow, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and patient safety

  • Assign workstations, manage task prioritization, and adjust staffing as needed

  • Support and improve systems and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technician guidance and workflow troubleshooting

Vaccination Program Support
  • Coordinate and support centralized vaccine operations across the company

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company guidelines related to pharmacy operations and vaccination processes, including vaccine handling, storage, and administration

  • Assist in planning for seasonal demand, including high-volume vaccination periods

  • Maintain organization and compliance with all vaccination-related processes

  • Maintain accurate documentation and adherence to regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and vaccine-related protocols

Customer Experience
  • Lead by example in delivering a welcoming and knowledgeable customer experience

  • Handle complex or sensitive customer interactions with professionalism and care

  • Support a service culture that reflects Peoples Rx's commitment to wellness and community

Requirements
  • Active TSBP Pharmacy Technician license

  • 3+ years of retail pharmacy experience (required)

  • Prior leadership or lead technician experience

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy workflow, systems, and terminology

  • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, including regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, vaccine handling and documentation, and applicable state/federal guidelines)

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical job duties
