Emplify Health by Gundersen is seeking a Pharmacy Medication History Assistant to join our hospital pharmacy team in La Crosse, WI.
This role is a great opportunity for students enrolled in a healthcare pre-professional program, such as pre-pharmacy, who are interested in gaining hands-on hospital pharmacy experience.
Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Medication History Assistant helps complete accurate medication histories for patients admitted to the hospital. Responsibilities include interviewing patients, families, and caregivers, verifying medication information with outside sources when needed, and entering reconciled medication lists into the electronic health record (EHR). This position functions as a pharmacist extender and supports safe, accurate medication reconciliation in the inpatient setting.
What you will do
Training: 30 to 40 hours per week for 4 to 6 weeks
After training: 1 to 2 evenings per week for 4 to 6 hours, then 2 weekends per month to maintain proficiency, with flexibility to support academic and personal responsibilities
What you need
High school diploma or equivalent
Registration as a Pharmacy Technician in Wisconsin
1 year of post-high school education in a healthcare professional or pre-professional course of study, such as pre-pharmacy or pre-medicine, preferred
