Job Description
The pharmacy practice residency is a 12-month experience designed to expand upon academic experiences in an integrated health care facility, and to provide further opportunity for knowledge-based development and expertise in the provision of pharmaceutical care. The resident will gain an understanding of the pharmacy knowledge and applications necessary for successful practice in a community hospital setting with extensive exposure to several different facets of health care. Residents will develop an acute understanding of inpatient protocol development, formulary management, and the impact of market forces on health care.
Education
BS or PharmD degree in Pharmacy required. Graduated from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy.
Certification & Licensure
Virginia Pharmacy License required or acquired within 90 days of hire.
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart 'Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Qualifications
Must be knowledgeable about medications, their pharmacology and dosage ranges for use in neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Experience with computerized pharmacy systems preferred.
