Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Purchasing Coordinator you will:
Maintain optimal pharmacy inventory by managing minimum/maximum stock levels, forecasting needs, and purchasing from both wholesalers and internal warehouses.
Actively manage and resolve drug backorders, including sourcing alternatives from other pharmacies or suppliers.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to drug purchasing and inventory management.
Consistently report “temporary out” products to the wholesaler’s customer service team to ensure up-to-date supply chain communication.
Inform pharmacy management promptly of any critical drug shortages that may necessitate changes in patient therapy.
Adjust inventory min/max thresholds in response to volume changes or new business demands.
Support the implementation of new contracts and programs across field pharmacy locations.
Monitor and manage participation in strategic purchasing initiatives and cost-saving programs.
Ensure all newly required drug products are acquired and correctly entered into the system.
Proactively identify and act on opportunities for cost reduction or operational efficiency in purchasing and inventory processes.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required:
Associate degree or two years of college education
One year of professional experience or Bachelor’s degree
Knowledge of practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment, and services
Desired:
Bachelor’s degree
