Starting Wage DOE: $63.47 - 79.34
The Lead Pharmacist of the Residency Program/Pharmacy Residency Program Director (RPD) is organizationally and administratively responsible for the overall character and direction of the Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program. The RPD develops, maintains, and executes the residency program's content and structure such that it is sufficient to meet the accreditation standards and regulations set by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). This position is also responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and delivery of high quality pharmaceutical services.

Essential Job Functions

* This position will be divided between clinical/operational staffing in addition to administrative duties
* Participates in day-to-day clinical patient care as appropriate for practice area
* Reviews and interprets provider orders to ensure appropriate medication use. Contacts provider to clarify any questionable order.
* Carefully checks all data entry, medication carts, and ADM fills for accuracy as appropriate.
* Accurately and safely prepares or supervises the preparation of all sterile (e.g. IV admixtures) and non-sterile products.
* Controls the distribution of controlled substances, dangerous drugs, and investigational drugs as required by state and federal regulations.
* Assists in the training and orientation of new employees, students, and residents. Provides assistance, direction, and clinical supervision of the pharmacy technical staff as appropriate for practice area.
* Document in the medical record (and other applications) and is accountable for all clinical pharmacy work including:
Monitoring drugs, disease states, and clinical pathways and interacts with providers to optimize drug therapy; writes consults in progress notes
Recommends therapeutic alternatives to providers to increase therapeutic efficiency and reduce cost
Document consults in designated patient chart or medical record
* Acts as a drug information resource to medical staff, other professionals, patients, and their families
* Develops and maintains relationships with key organizational staff to enhance educational experiences for residents.
* Develops, implements, and maintains a PGY1 ASHP-accredited residency program consistent with ASHP accreditation standards and competency areas, goals, and objectives
* Ensures all PGY1 residency program elements meet ASHP requirements
* Facilitates design and maintenance of:
Residency manual and policies
Learning experience descriptions
Evaluation tools and timelines
* Oversees resident schedules, rotations, and staffing assignments
* Recruits, trains, evaluates, and mentors preceptors according to ASHP preceptor qualification standards
Ensures appointment and reappointment of residency program preceptors is consistent with criteria required by current ASHP accreditation standards
* Responsible for the resident recruitment process
Ensures compliance with ASHP Resident Matching Program
* Chairs a Residency Advisory Committee (RAC) for the residency program
