- Bachelor''s degree in pharmacy High academic standards achieved (above 3.0 GPA)
- Must obtain Oklahoma Pharmacy License within 2 months of beginning residency
- 3 letters of professional reference based upon personal observation within a work or clinical environment
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
The Pharmacy Specialist Resident develops skills and competencies in hospital pharmacy and pharmaceutical care beyond that required legally and for licensure, rotates through all divisions of the department. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.
The Pharmacy Specialist Resident responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversees compounding and dispensing of drugs and IV admixtures within the guidelines of current status and federal statutes and department policies and procedures
- Presents, develops, and completes at least one research project within the course of the residency and shall seek publication of that project
- Will present two formal presentations on drug therapy or other related topics to interdisciplinary health care providers
- Provides technical direction to Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Students, and Pharmacy Interns, working within their area of practice
- Contributes to the continuous evaluation of departmental activities and goals
- Serves as a resource person on drugs and therapeutics to other areas of the hospital
The Pharmacy Specialist Resident reports to the Pharmaceutical Care Coordinator This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Please consult the Physical Demands Project SharePoint site or contact Risk Management/Employee Health for additional information. Minimal exposure to chemotherapy products when reconstituting these drugs as a part of Oncology and IV Admixture rotations.
