Supports and assists the Pharmacist in the preparation, distribution, and inventory control of medication and performs other duties as necessary for the provision of patient-focused pharmacy services. Assists with training of pharmacy technicians, has been trained and is a resource person for specialty area and has an active role in improving workflow. The Pharmacist will check all medications and preparations before they are dispensed. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
Pharmacy Student I - P1: Education: Enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school and in their 1st year. Licensure: Registered in good standing with the state of practice Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Intern or as a Pharmacy Technician.
Pharmacy Student II - P2: Education: Enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school and in their 2nd year. Licensure: Requires valid Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern License per state to be registered with state of practice Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.
Pharmacy Student III - P3: Education: Enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school and in their 3rd year of pharmacy school. Licensure: Requires valid Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern License per state to be registered with state of practice Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.
Pharmacy Student IV - P4: Education: Enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school and in their 4th year of pharmacy school. Licensure: Requires valid Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern License per state to be registered with state of practice Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 185 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who wanted to help the poor women and children of Dublin. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill her dreams. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to poor women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, the first religious order not bound to the rules of the cloister, whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. By the time Catherine died in 1841, there were convents in Ireland and England, and in 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1871, they traveled to St. Louis and from there throughout the Midwest, beginning what would, today be known as Mercy.
