Contract- 06 months contract with higher extension possibilities
Training: 08:00 AM - 04:30 PM CST M-F (no time off permitted during training)
Schedule Times: This position follows a standard 8.5-hour workday
The permanent schedule will be determined based on business needs after training is completed .
Position Summary
- The Tech I Prior Auth takes in-bound calls from providers, pharmacies, members, etc., providing professional and courteous phone assistance to all callers through the criteria-based prior authorization process.
- Maintains complete, timely, and accurate documentation of reviews.
- Transfers all clinical questions, escalations, and judgment calls to the pharmacist team.
- The Tech I will also assist with other duties as needed, including but not limited to:
- Outbound calls
- Reviewing and processing Prior Authorizations received via fax and ePA
- Monitoring and responding to inquiries via department mailboxes
- Other duties as assigned by the leadership team
Key Responsibilities / Duties
- Take incoming calls from members, providers, pharmacies, etc.
- Provide professional and courteous phone assistance to all callers.
- Support the criteria-based prior authorization process.
- Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation of: Reviews, Approvals and Denials.
- Transfer all clinical questions and judgment calls to the pharmacist.
- Assist with outbound calls as needed.
- Review and process Prior Authorizations received via fax and ePA.
- Monitor and respond to department mailboxes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-volume call center (healthcare or PBM/prior authorization-related preferred).
Minimum 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician coordinating activities in an administrative support function.
Minimum 2 years of customer service experience in a high-volume environment; preferably in Healthcare, Social services, or Similar service positions
Education Requirements
A Verifiable High School Diploma or GED is required.
Licenses / Certifications
Pharmacy Technician license (active and no restrictions).
National pharmacy technician certification or certification/licensure per state regulations.
