Job Description

They locate, dispense, pack, and label a prescribed medication for a patient that is then reviewed for accuracy by a pharmacist before dispensed to the patient. They might also help pharmacists with administrative tasks such as processing insurance claims, tracking inventory, and filing paperwork.

Pharmacy Tech II Admix/Flex/CST

The Certified Pharmacy Technician II works under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist to provide services to Pharmacy customers.

  • The Pharmacy Technician supports the Pharmacist in providing Pharmaceutical Care.
  • The main areas of responsibility include one or more of the following: Non-Sterile Compounding and Repackaging, IV Admixture/Sterile Compounding Tech, Narcotic Tech, OR Satellite Tech or Registrar I.
  • Other tasks, roles or responsibilities may be required as appropriate, needed or assigned.

Qualifications

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred. Successful completion of Pharmacy Service Line competencies within 6 months of hire

Experience: Previous pharmacy work experience is preferred. One year of pharmacy experience required for Registrar I.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration:

Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required. Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician is required within 9 months of hire.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications and focused on attention to detail/accuracy. Must be customer service oriented. Requires knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision. All Technicians must complete Orientation Competencies.
