The Pharmacy Technician supports the overall health and well-being of Individuals served by Stanford Heights through accurate and timely medication transcription. This role ensures that medication orders are properly transcribed on an e-Mar and distributed to residential homes in accordance with physician orders, agency policy, and state regulations. This job requires onsite (office setting) Monday - Friday, 9am- 3pm. No Weekends
Responsibilities
Review prepared and package prescribed medications received from the pharmacy.
Review physician orders and medication lists for accuracy, completeness, and potential discrepancies.
Transcribe and maintain accurate medication administration records (E-MARs) and update changes as directed by medical providers.
Coordinate medication pickup to individuals receiving medications.
Communicate effectively with direct support professionals, independent contractors, nurses, and management regarding medication changes or issues.
Participate in medication audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
Uphold confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA and regulatory compliance standards.
Promote a person-centered, respectful, and compassionate approach to medication transcribing for each individual supported.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program preferred.
Minimum one (1) year of experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting; experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
Working knowledge of medication names, dosage forms, and medical terminology.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate records.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and direct support staff in a professional and supportive manner.
Familiarity with electronic record systems or medication management software preferred.
