Job Summary

The Pharmacy Tech prepares medication, upon receipt of prescription, for use within the hospital. Enters drug information into pharmacy computer to establish patient drug regimes. Purchases pharmaceuticals and stocks pharmacy and ancillary departments with medications based on par levels. Communicates drug information with nursing staff.

  • Demonstrates competency in the maintenance of a safe patient environment.
  • Demonstrates competency in performing his/her role in the event of emergency.
  • Demonstrates competency in the preparation of medications.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Graduate or equivalent

Minimum Experience: None

Required Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician, Texas Pharmacy Tech Registration required.

Required Licensure: None needed until certified
