POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Assist with the overall operations of the retail pharmacy; assist with compounding, packaging, labeling, and storage of pharmaceuticals; assist with recordkeeping tasks such as recording the filling of initial and refill prescriptions, maintaining accurate patient profile information, and insurance information; be familiar with pharmaceutical and medical terminology; be able to perform and apply simple arithmetic calculations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
One to two (1-2) years of experience working as a pharmacy technician preferred.
Completion of a pharmacy technician training program approved by a nationally recognized organization is required.
Per Illinois regulations, 500 hours of documented work experience that includes on-the-job training may substitute for a formal training program.
Must hold a current Illinois Pharmacy Technician license (or the appropriate state license for the work site) prior to hire.
Certification as a pharmacy technician (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT) is required prior to the second license renewal, per Illinois state law (225 ILCS 85/9). Preference will be given to candidates who already hold certification.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Normal work hours for this position are Monday through Friday dayshift, unless otherwise specified by management staff.
