Position Summary
The Pharmacy Technician works under the direction of the Pharmacist to help ensure the safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy services throughout the hospital, clinic, long-term care facility, and emergency department. This role is essential to maintaining medication safety, supporting patient care, and helping our pharmacy operate smoothly every day.
Our Pharmacy Technician is an important member of the healthcare team and collaborates closely with providers, nurses, and other departments to provide exceptional care to our patients and residents.
What You'll Do
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will:
- Assist the pharmacist in preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications.
- Accurately process medication orders and maintain pharmacy documentation.
- Prepare unit-dose medications and medication packaging in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain medication inventory by ordering, receiving, stocking, rotating, and monitoring supplies.
- Assist with medication deliveries throughout the hospital, clinic, and long-term care facility.
- Monitor medication expiration dates and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with controlled substance documentation.
- Utilize pharmacy software to process medication orders and maintain patient records.
- Answer telephone calls and provide courteous assistance to providers, nursing staff, patients, and visitors.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and regulatory-compliant pharmacy environment.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and medication safety practices.
- Follow all federal, state, CMS, DEA, Board of Pharmacy, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Pharmacist.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Montana Pharmacy Technician certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT).
- Previous retail, hospital, or long-term care pharmacy experience.
- Knowledge of pharmacy regulations and medication safety practices.
