OVERVIEW
Support safe and efficient pharmacy operations by preparing sterile and hazardous medications, maintaining compliance with USP standards, managing IV room inventory, and ensuring accurate medication compounding and dispensing processes. This role serves as a technical resource and trainer for pharmacy staff, supports chemotherapy and specialty medication preparation, monitors quality and regulatory compliance, and helps ensure patients receive timely and accurate medication therapy.
Schedule: 40 hours per week
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works under direct supervision of pharmacists and other pharmacy staff to learn the skills needed to become a pharmacy technician.
Assists in preparing, stocking and distributing medications. These tasks may also include procuring, measuring, compounding (sterile and non-sterile), counting, and delivering medications.
Fills prescription/medication orders.
Maintains inventory and restocks items in the pharmacy.
Performs administrative tasks such as updating records, keeping the pharmacy clean and organized, and handling billing and insurance documentation.
Responds to the requests of patients and healthcare providers and refer various inquiries to the Pharmacist.
Complies with rules, regulations and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy.
Obtains a working knowledge of the functionality of all equipment and technology in the department.
Appropriately triages phone calls and takes detailed phone messages.
Demonstrates professionalism in behavior, appearance and interactions.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
IL applicants: License is required.
WI applicants: Registration is required.
PAY RANGE:
$16.89 - $24.49
