Job Description
The Fountain Group is currently seeking a Pharmacy Technician III for a prominent client of ours. This position is located in North Chicago, IL. Details for the position are as follows:
Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Location: Illinois
Pay Rate: $26.00–$28.00/hr (Minimum $25.05/hr)
Duration: 6 months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, between 7:00 AM–7:00 PM; typically 8-hour shifts, with availability for 10:30 AM–7:00 PM required. Overtime may be offered or required based on workload.
Job Description
Support pharmacists with prescription order entry, processing, interpretation, and dispensing activities in compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations and HIPAA requirements.
Enter prescription orders accurately into pharmacy systems and resolve incomplete or incorrect prescription information with healthcare providers.
Obtain missing prescription information and process product replacement orders within pharmacy technician scope of practice.
Support patient medication adherence activities, including medication delivery scheduling and maintenance of medication, allergy, and medical-condition information.
Use pharmacy and web-based systems to verify insurance benefits, prescription coverage, and test claims.
Handle inbound and outbound patient and healthcare-provider calls and triage clinical matters to pharmacists or nursing staff when required.
Maintain accurate patient and pharmacy records and documentation.
Support pharmacy operations projects, testing, workflow prioritization, and process improvements.
Review and manage pharmacist voicemail when assigned.
Follow federal, state, local, HIPAA, and pharmacy-specific policies and procedures.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician license/certification required by the start of employment.
Required Skills
3–5 years of experience in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
Pharmacy prescription data entry experience.
Experience handling medical records and healthcare documentation.
Customer service experience in a healthcare, pharmacy, or patient-support environment.
Strong computer skills with accurate data entry.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of pharmacy operations, prescription processing, and insurance benefit verification.
Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician licensure and required continuing education.
Preferred Skills
Retail pharmacy experience.
Experience with pharmacy management or prescription processing systems.
Experience with medication adherence programs and delivery coordination.
Experience handling insurance test claims and pharmacy benefit verification.
