Job Title: Pharmacy Floor Technician

Job Description

This part-time Pharmacy Floor Technician role focuses on accurately preparing prescriptions for final verification by a pharmacist. You work in a fast-paced pharmacy environment, picking, labeling, scanning, and packaging medications while following established procedures and regulatory requirements. The position requires careful attention to detail, consistent productivity at a moderate pace, and strict adherence to safety, privacy, and quality standards.

Part Time: 20 - 28hr/wk

  • Weekends: 8:30AM - 3PM
  • Some evenings second shift: 2PM - 10:30PM

Responsibilities

  • Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Assist in processing returned medications and recycle or dispose of them according to established procedures.
  • Prepack frequently ordered medications, label them correctly, and store them as needed during low-volume periods.
  • Manually package materials and products following pharmacy and departmental guidelines.
  • Pull and pick medications from shelving and other designated medication storage areas, including prepack racks.
  • Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to verify accuracy before pharmacist review.
  • Alert the pharmacist on duty immediately when any medication or product does not scan properly or appears incorrect.
  • Maintain designated workstation areas in a clean and organized manner and replenish all stock supplies as needed.
  • Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code.
  • Work overtime, holidays, and weekends when required or expected to support pharmacy operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure smooth and efficient pharmacy workflow.

Essential Skills

  • Active and clear Tennessee Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy, maintained in good standing.
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Ability to work at a moderate, consistent speed while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow prescriptions, labels, and procedures.
  • Finger dexterity to operate office and pharmacy equipment and handle small medication packages.
  • Ability to sit or stand for 7 to 10 hours per day and walk, stoop, bend, and move intermittently throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion as required by pharmacy operations.
  • Visual acuity to see and read fine print on labels, prescriptions, and documentation.
  • Close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus for accurate medication identification and labeling.
  • Ability to hear normal voice sounds to communicate effectively with pharmacists, colleagues, and patients.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a pharmacy environment, including familiarity with medication storage areas and prepack racks.
  • Comfort working under the supervision of a pharmacist and following detailed instructions and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain workstation areas and manage stock supplies efficiently.
  • Reliability and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.
  • Commitment to patient privacy and regulatory compliance, including adherence to HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to varying work volumes and shift patterns, including daytime and evening hours.

Work Environment

This is a part-time pharmacy technician position, typically ranging from 20 to 28 hours per week. Weekends are required, with common weekend hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Some evening, second-shift work is expected, with hours approximately from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The role involves working in a pharmacy setting where you may sit or stand for extended periods, often 7 to 10 hours per day, and move between shelving, storage areas, and workstations. You frequently use office and pharmacy equipment for labeling, scanning, and packaging medications. The environment requires lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally and maintaining visual focus for reading fine print and color-coded labels. Dress code, safety, and attendance policies are clearly defined and must be followed at all times, contributing to a professional, compliant, and patient-focused workplace.

This is a Contract position based out of Lebanon, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
