Position Statement The Pharmacy Technician reports to the Pharmacy Director and works closely with the Pharmacists to assure medications are available for our patients. Key Responsibilities: Fills, stocks and delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas, including the automated dispensing units such as Omnicell. Enters charges and credits for patient medications into the electronic medical record and other pharmacy software. Maintains shelf stock, checking for outdates and places orders with vendors for pharmaceuticals. Answers the telephone professionally, identifying self and department; directs calls to appropriate personnel. Assists with requests at the pickup window for employee prescriptions and makes stat deliveries to patient care and ancillary areas when requested. Maintains the narcotic inventory module and conducts weekly narcotic inventory count under the direct supervision of the pharmacist. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: High school diploma or equivalent. Basic typing and/or computer skills. 2-3 years pharmacy technician experience preferred, but not required. Certified or willing to obtain certification through an approved Pharmacy Technician certification course.

It is licensed by the State of Vermont Department of Health and is certified by the Department of Health and Human Services as a provider under the Medicare program, It is also accredited by the Center for Medicare Services (CMS), which assures that the hospital meets the highest standards of medical care.

Founded in 1919 by a group of area citizens, Orleans Country Memorial Hospital opened in 1924, the present North Country Hospital, opened in 1974.
