Pharmacy Technician - Oakland, CA

Compensation: $21 - $23 hourly | DOE

Overview: Nexus HR is looking for a Pharmacy Technician with strong experience working in a fast-paced Long-term care pharmacy. Must have an active California Board of Pharmacy Technician’s License.

The candidate should have experience working in a  Closed-door Pharmacy, Long-Term Care, and Assisted Living; an active Pharmacy Technician license in California.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Pharmacy Technician will perform various duties, including but not limited to data entry, organizing deliveries and managing delivery areas, performing insurance eligibility checks, fixing billing errors, processing and posting account payments, and other tasks as required. If requested, he/she may be called to assist with inventory assistance and/or scheduling patient prescription deliveries. You will also be scheduling patient refills, filling and packaging medications, re-ordering inventory, and typing prescriptions. 

  • Respond to inquiries in person and over the phone.

  • Process necessary prescription, insurance, and customer information

  • Prepare accurate orders for the pharmacy technician and/or pharmacist to fill

  • File prescriptions and records on occasion

  • Perform various clerical duties as needed.

  • Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of Personal Health Information as required by HIPAA.

Qualifications:

  • Has an Associate's Degree in Pharmacy Technician 

  • 1 - 2 years of Pharmacy Technician or comparable work experience 

    (Entry-level candidates with no prior experience are encouraged to apply)

  • Active Pharmacy Technician license in California

  • Experience in a Closed-door Pharmacy, Long-Term Care, and Assisted Living is preferred 

  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Above-average typing skills.

  • Adept at reading/interpreting prescription terminology and medications.

  • Able to function in a close team environment.

  • Able to meet specified production and quality standards.

  • Able to identify and recognize commonly used generic drugs and the route of administration.

  • Able to identify common Latin symbols in prescriptions.

  • Able to calculate dosage and days' supply.

  • Possess high levels of reliability, accuracy, professionalism, and customer focus
