Reports to Pharmacist-in-Charge.
About the Role
The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services. This role also provides friendly and cooperative customer service, enters patient data accurately, and answers telephones quickly and with courtesy. The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the overall coordination and processing of patient medication orders and reorders. This individual ensures that orders are processed and packed in a timely manner and meet all financial and clinical requirements prior to fulfillment.
What You'll Do
Process and manage specialty pharmacy prescriptions using the pharmacy management system, including accurate data entry, preparation, labeling, packaging, and shipment for pharmacist verification.
Communicate with patients, prescribers, and internal staff to coordinate refills, prior authorizations, benefits investigation, and resolve prescription or coverage issues with a focus on patient care.
Perform billing and claims-related activities, ensuring accuracy of claim type, codes, modifiers, units, and dates of service, and resolving claim rejections as needed.
Support pharmacy operations by handling inbound calls, assisting with inventory control, scheduling deliveries, and completing order fulfillment for patients and provider offices.
Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations and organizational needs.
Qualifications
Current PTCB/State of CA Pharmacy tech License is required.
A minimum of 2 years of prior pharmacy technician experience in a retail or specialty pharmacy setting is preferred.
Proficiency with pharmacy management systems and basic computer skills (including MS Word and Excel)
