Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician plays a key role in safely and efficiently preparing medications for patients in a fast-paced, high-volume pharmacy environment. You retrieve medication from stock, count and package orders for pharmacist review, maintain clean and well-supplied workstations, support inventory replenishment, and ensure pre-packaged auxiliary items remain at appropriate par levels. You occasionally contact patients for customer service calls and follow up on shipped orders, while working within multiple computer systems to provide accurate medication details and clinical information. This full-time role requires reliability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to delivering important, sometimes life-saving medications accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Process and fill prescription orders in preparation for pharmacist verification, ensuring accuracy in medication selection, counting, and packaging.
- Retrieve medications from stock and package them according to established procedures and safety standards.
- Perform some packing and shipping of completed prescription orders to patients, following all handling and documentation requirements.
- Maintain drug inventory levels and support the management of automated dispensing units to ensure medications are readily available.
- Replenish work station supplies for filling prescriptions, including vials, caps, labels, and other necessary materials.
- Maintain par levels of pre-packaged auxiliary items and remove outdated products from shelves to support patient safety and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with inventory replenishment activities, including checking stock, organizing products, and reporting shortages or discrepancies.
- Keep workstations organized, clean, and adequately stocked to support efficient prescription processing.
- Use multiple computer systems simultaneously to process orders, access patient and medication information, and document activities accurately.
- Respond to questions and provide specific medication details or clinical information within scope of role and under pharmacist direction.
- Occasionally contact patients for customer service calls, including follow-ups on orders shipped and inquiries related to their prescriptions.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other pharmacy team members to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medications.
- Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to medication handling, documentation, and patient privacy.
- Adapt to changing workload and business needs, including working occasional overtime or weekends when required.
Essential Skills
- Active New Jersey state pharmacy technician license.
- Pharmacy technician experience, with hands-on exposure to prescription processing and medication handling.
- Experience working with prior authorizations or related pharmacy benefit processes.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency using multiple computer systems simultaneously to process prescriptions and access medication information.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain inventory, manage automated dispensing units, and keep workstations well supplied.
- Clear communication skills for interacting with pharmacists, team members, and patients during customer service calls.
- Reliability and flexibility to work a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, Sunday through Thursday, on an 8-hour shift between 3:00 PM and 11:30 PM.
- Willingness and ability to work occasional overtime or weekends based on business needs.

- Previous experience in a retail, mail order, or clinical pharmacy setting.

Work Environment
- This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, scheduled Sunday through Thursday on an 8-hour shift within normal business hours of 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
- The environment is fast-paced and high-volume, with a strong focus on accuracy, safety, and timely delivery of medications.
- You work primarily in a pharmacy setting with access to automated dispensing units, computer systems, and standard pharmacy equipment such as vials, caps, and labeling tools.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on business needs.
- Attire is typical professional pharmacy or healthcare workwear appropriate for a clinical and operational setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
