Overview
The ambulatory pharmacy technician is a dedicated resource in each clinic to support the outpatient clinical pharmacists. This role will be responsible for benefits investigations, prescription processing, and patient care. Technicians will partner with pharmacists on patient needs and coordinate care for optimal patient experience. While operating within their scope of practice, ambulatory pharmacy technicians resolve patient issues, maintain patient profiles, handle unique issues when processing patient information and coordinate with the centralized pharmacy staff to complete processing for their clinics' refills.
Qualifications
Education Required: High school diploma or GED required
Minimum Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, and registration must be in good standing. PTCB or ExCPT certification required upon hire. In the case of PTCB renewal, "active" status must be attained within 30 days of the expiration of the current certification (this provides a 30-day grace period for the employee). 2+ years pharmacy technician experience preferred
Additional Skills and Responsibilities: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
