Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Specialist performs functions related to pharmaceutical preparation and distribution.  

Here is some of what you can expect from being a Pharmacy Technician Specialist with us: 

  • You will do non-sterile compounding, stocking automated dispensing cabinets, unit dose drug preparation, delivering medications to patient care areas, checking medication storage areas for out dates, and billing.  
  • You will primarily work in one or more specialty areas of pharmacy. Examples: IV room, controlled substance distribution and monitoring, automation, informatics, medication reconciliation. 
  • You will serve as a lead or subject matter expert in your designated specialty area. You may assist with writing policies, leading committees, implementing changes and improvements in their area of specialty, serving as a staff educator or trainer, overseeing projects for the department, and other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications you will need for this role: 

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or national equivalent) with Colorado Board of Pharmacy (DORA) issued Pharmacy Technician Certificate, or Colorado Board of Pharmacy (DORA) issued Provisional Pharmacy Technician Certificate  
  • If initially hired with a Colorado Board of Pharmacy (DORA) issued a Provisional Pharmacy Technician Certificate, you must achieve Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT or national equivalent) within 12 months of hire.  
  • High school diploma or equivalent  
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred  
  • The ability to work accurately and with attention to detail.  
  • Possesses communication, teamwork, customer service, computer, problem solving, and organizational skills.
