Job Title: Phlebotomist - Outpatient Clinic (ACNG)Job Description

This role provides high-quality phlebotomy and specimen processing services in a physician office setting. The phlebotomist collects and receives biological specimens, accurately enters information into the laboratory information system, prepares samples for analytical testing, and supports both pre- and post-analytical processes. The position also performs specified analytical testing as assigned while following established procedures and the organization's Code of Conduct. Responsibilities

  • Draw blood from patients safely, efficiently, and with a high level of skill, including patients who are difficult to draw.
  • Collect and receive biological specimens from patients in a physician office setting.
  • Verify patient identity and ensure accurate labeling of all specimens.
  • Enter specimen and patient data accurately into the company's computer system and laboratory information systems.
  • Prepare specimens for analytical testing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and proper storage as required.
  • Distribute specimens to the correct analytical areas according to established procedures.
  • Perform specified analytical testing as assigned under established guidelines.
  • Follow all pre-analytical and post-analytical procedures to ensure specimen integrity and accurate test results.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with infection control and safety protocols.
  • Work closely with medical assistants and other clinic staff to coordinate patient flow and specimen collection.
  • Provide professional and compassionate patient care, explaining procedures and addressing questions as needed.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and the Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate as a supportive team member, assisting colleagues and contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Handle confidential patient information in compliance with privacy and confidentiality requirements.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Proven ability to perform blood draws, including on patients who are difficult to draw.
  • Hands-on experience with specimen collection and specimen processing.
  • Experience working directly with patients in a clinical or laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and safe blood collection practices.
  • Ability to accurately enter and manage data in computer and laboratory information systems.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure correct labeling, handling, and routing of specimens.
  • Effective teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with medical assistants and other clinic staff.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Commitment to following established procedures, safety standards, and the Code of Conduct.

Work Environment

This position is based in a physician office setting where the phlebotomist works Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The role involves drawing blood from the physician's patients and working closely with medical assistants and other clinic staff. The environment is clinical and patient-facing, with frequent interaction and coordination to support smooth patient flow and timely specimen collection. The organization operates a large network of clinics and hospital-based laboratories, offering extensive opportunities for growth and internal promotion. Team members typically wear professional clinical attire appropriate for a medical office and follow all safety, infection control, and laboratory standards while working with standard phlebotomy and specimen processing equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.36/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
