ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collect and process venous and capillary samples from all patient age groups.
  • Perform and document therapeutic phlebotomies.
  • Document and record samples/results.
  • Accession and process referral testing samples.
  • Maintain records, files and route patient reports.
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned.
  • Participate and promote QA activities.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:

  • Phlebotomy skill and competency.

AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.

Information Management: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education - High school graduate or equivalent; formal phlebotomy training preferred.
  • Work Experience - 6 months phlebotomy preferred.
  • Training - N/A
  • License/Certification - Certified Phlebotomist, CMA, EMT-B preferred.
